Concerning Selvi Ragen, nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council 22A0922E).

Decision date: 22 April 2026

In plain English

The NMC agreed an application from children's nurse Selvi Ragen for removal from its register on 22 April 2026. A referral had alleged she failed to demonstrate the knowledge, skill and judgement to practise without supervision as a band five nurse, which she denies. She had agreed undertakings recommended by case examiners, and no allegation was found proved. The Assistant Registrar was satisfied she no longer intends to work as a registered nurse.

Charges

A referral received on 15 February 2024 alleged that she failed to demonstrate the knowledge, skill and judgement to practise without supervision as a band five nurse. Selvi Ragen denies the concerns. The case examiners recommended undertakings as a suitable outcome, which she agreed; the undertakings came into effect on 18 August 2025. No allegation against her has been found substantively proved by a statutory committee.

Findings

An Assistant Registrar, exercising delegated authority under Rule 14 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (Education, Registration and Registration Appeals) Rules 2004, agreed Selvi Ragen's application for agreed removal from the NMC register. The Assistant Registrar was satisfied that she no longer intends to work as a registered nurse, that the allegations relate to a lack of competence and are not likely to result in a striking-off order, and that the public interest is best served by agreeing the removal. The decision is published for twelve months from 22 April 2026.
