What does “interim restrictions imposed” mean?

An interim order is a precautionary restriction imposed before the regulator's investigation is complete. It is not a finding of fault — the underlying allegations have not yet been adjudicated.

Concerning Sharon Doris Angel James White, nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council 23I0376O).

Decision date: 11 August 2026 · Hearing started 11 August 2026

In plain English

The NMC's Investigating Committee decided that an interim conditions of practice order should be placed on children's nurse Sharon Doris Angel James White for 18 months. The conditions require her to work for a single employer, to be supervised at all times by a nurse of Band 6 or above, and not to be the nurse in charge of a shift. The NMC's case examiners are yet to decide whether there is a case to answer.

Charges

The determination does not set out the allegations. The NMC's case examiners are yet to decide whether there is a case to answer in relation to the allegations made against Ms James White.

Findings

The panel decided to make an interim conditions of practice order for a period of 18 months. The conditions restrict her nursing practice to a single substantive employer, and not as an agency or bank nurse; prevent her being the nurse in charge of any shift or the sole nurse on duty; and require indirect supervision by a registered nurse of Band 6 or above whenever she is working. She must meet her line manager or supervisor fortnightly to discuss medication management and administration, documentation and record keeping, recognition of the deteriorating patient and appropriate escalation, and her overall clinical knowledge, communication and performance. The order must be reviewed before the end of the next six months and every six months thereafter.
