The HCPTS review panel found that biomedical scientist Adrian Patrick remained impaired after proven laboratory recording and communication misconduct. With no engagement or remediation and no confidence that he was safe to practise unrestricted, it ordered striking off when his suspension expired on 6 October 2024.
Charges
It was alleged that on or around 21 July 2020 the Registrant incorrectly recorded the identification of a reactive Hepatitis Surface Antigen result for Service User A and failed to communicate effectively by not raising concerns about insufficient sample volumes; that those matters amounted to misconduct and that his fitness to practise was impaired.
Findings
The substantive panel found Particulars 1 and 2 proved, found misconduct and impairment, and imposed suspension. At this review, the Panel found no engagement or remediation, concluded that the Registrant was not safe to practise without restriction and remained impaired on personal and public components, and found that further suspension would serve no useful purpose. It ordered removal on expiry of the current Suspension Order on 6 October 2024.
