Nursing and Midwifery Council determination — interim orders hearing

Interim restrictions imposed

The regulator’s term: interim order imposed

What does “interim restrictions imposed” mean?

An interim order is a precautionary restriction imposed before the regulator's investigation is complete. It is not a finding of fault — the underlying allegations have not yet been adjudicated.

Concerning Alia Sharif Abukar, nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council 10C0431E).

Decision date: 4 March 2026 · Hearing started 4 March 2026

In plain English

The NMC's Fitness to Practise Committee found that the existing interim conditions of practice order on registered adult nurse Alia Sharif Abukar should be replaced with an interim suspension order. The order will be reviewed at an administrative meeting within the next six months, or at a hearing if she requests one. The substantive allegations against her have still to be considered.

Charges

A panel of the Fitness to Practise Committee has still to deal with the allegations made against Mrs Abukar. The substantive allegations were not adjudicated at this hearing.

Findings

The Fitness to Practise Committee panel reviewed the existing interim conditions of practice order (18 months) and decided to replace it with an interim suspension order. A reviewing panel will review the interim suspension order at an administrative meeting within the next six months. Mrs Abukar is entitled to have the interim suspension order reviewed at a hearing if she requests one.
