What does “struck off the register” mean?

Being struck off (the regulator calls this "erasure") removes the practitioner from the register. They are no longer permitted to practise this profession in the UK. Erasure can be reviewed after a minimum of five years, but is otherwise indefinite.

The final hearing panel found that the Registrant had some insight, and that his misconduct was remediable. It concluded that the appropriate sanction was one of suspension. The Registrant was suspended from practice for a period of 9 months and an Interim Order was imposed. 35. On 28 October 2025, the Registrant emailed the HCPC stating that he did not want to return to practice and requesting voluntary removal from the Register. On 20 November 2025, the HCPC responded and declined to agree to his voluntary removal. On 21 November 2025, the Registrant contacted the HCPC again. He explained the reasons that he no longer wishes to practice as a Paramedic but stated that he would appeal any decision to strike him off. The Registrant requested further correspondence to be sent to his legal representative. However, on 13 January 2026, the legal representative informed the HCPC that the firm was no longer on record for the Registrant. Subsequent correspondence was sent directly to the Registrant, but no response was received from him by the HCPC. HCPC Submissions. 36.
