Nursing and Midwifery Council determination — voluntary removal
Voluntary removal from the register
The regulator’s term: voluntary erasure accepted
What does “voluntary removal from the register” mean?
The practitioner asked to be removed from the register and the regulator accepted the request. This may happen during or after a fitness-to-practise case.
Concerning Sallie Elizabeth Channon, nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council 98A0586E).
Decision date: 20 February 2026
In plain English
The NMC agreed to remove Sallie Elizabeth Channon from the register after Sallie Elizabeth Channon applied for agreed removal. The decision states that no allegation had yet been substantively proved by a statutory committee, and that the public interest was best served by allowing Sallie Elizabeth Channon to leave the register.
Charges
The referral raised a concern about Sallie Elizabeth Channon’s fitness to practise. It’s alleged that while working as a Prison Nurse, Sallie Elizabeth Channon: • was rude to a colleague and ignored and avoided them after they made a complaint about her • failed to respond appropriately when alerted to concerns about a patient’s health • didn’t take concerns about a different patient’s welfare seriously, didn’t escalate the patient’s condition and made an inappropriate comment in response to a colleague’s concerns • made an inappropriate comment about training being ‘dumbed down’ for more junior colleagues. Sallie Elizabeth Channon doesn’t accept all of the concerns and has categorically denied any intention to be dismissive, unprofessional or uncaring. She’s given her perspective on the incidents that gave rise to the concerns, maintains that she acted professionally and with the patients’ best interests at heart and explained how she’d act differently in the future. She described the experience of working in a prison setting as an emotional rollercoaster and said that she was often thinking about work during her time off. She said that she’s learned valuable lessons about managing stress, communicating effectively under pressure and navigating challenging interpersonal dynamics. We investigated the issue and the matter was referred to the Fitness to Practise Committee.
