What does “interim restrictions imposed” mean?

An interim order is a precautionary restriction imposed before the regulator's investigation is complete. It is not a finding of fault — the underlying allegations have not yet been adjudicated.

Concerning Wendy Woodcock, nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council 97C1250E).

Decision date: 17 August 2026 · Hearing started 17 August 2026

In plain English

The NMC's Fitness to Practise Committee decided to replace the interim suspension order on registered nurse Wendy Woodcock with an interim conditions of practice order. The conditions require her to work for a single substantive employer, agree a return to practice plan, work under indirect supervision and complete training in conflict resolution, communication, equality and workplace dignity. The allegations against her have not yet been decided. The order must be reviewed within six months.

Charges

This document is an interim order review. The published determination records that a panel of the Fitness to Practise Committee has still to deal with the allegations made against Ms Woodcock. The allegations themselves are not set out in the document and have not been adjudicated.

Findings

The panel reviewed an existing interim suspension order of 18 months and decided to replace it with an interim conditions of practice order, which it determined was proportionate and appropriate. The conditions require Ms Woodcock to work only for a single substantive employer and not for an agency or bank; to agree a structured return to practice plan with her employer, including appropriate induction or reorientation and assessment of her clinical competencies, before undertaking patient-facing work; not to be the only nurse on duty and to work under the indirect supervision of a minimum of a band 6 nurse; and to undertake training in conflict resolution, effective communication, diversity, equality and inclusion, and dignity and respect in the workplace. Further conditions require her to keep the NMC informed about where she is working and studying, to give a copy of the conditions to employers and education providers, and to report clinical incidents, investigations and disciplinary proceedings to her case officer. The order must be reviewed before the end of the next six months and every six months thereafter. Ms Woodcock was present and represented.
