What does “struck off the register” mean?
Being struck off (the regulator calls this "erasure") removes the practitioner from the register. They are no longer permitted to practise this profession in the UK. Erasure can be reviewed after a minimum of five years, but is otherwise indefinite.

Based on its findings in relation to the unwarranted risk of harm, the bringing the profession into disrepute, the breaching of the fundamental tenets of the profession, and the dishonesty, the Panel concluded that public confidence would be undermined if there were to be no finding of impairment. The Panel considered that not to make a finding of current impairment of fitness to practise in relation to the misconduct would seriously undermine public trust and confidence in the profession and would fail to uphold and declare proper standards. 165. The Panel therefore decided on the public component of impairment that the Registrant’s fitness to practise is currently impaired. Decision on Sanction Submissions 166. Mr Schofield addressed the Panel on the approach it should take in relation to its decision on sanction, with reference to the HCPC Sanctions Policy (March 2019) (‘the Policy’). 167. Mr Schofield submitted that based on the evidence and the Panel’s findings to date, there are no mitigating factors for the Panel to take into account. 168. In relation to aggravating features of the case, Mr Schofield submitted that there was a pattern of behaviour as the Registrant’s inability to communicate to a proficient standard of English impacted her clinical practice at the Hospital. Mr Schofield submitted that the Registrant had no insight and had not remediated and there remains a risk of repetition of her conduct.
