Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service determination — substantive hearing
No impairment found
What does “no impairment found” mean?
The regulator considered the case and found that the practitioner's fitness to practise was not currently impaired. No restrictions are imposed.
Concerning Farid Saedi, doctor (General Medical Council 7013362).
Decision date: 8 January 2026 · Hearing started 29 September 2025 and ended 8 January 2026
In plain English
The MPTS tribunal found that some allegations of physical conduct against Dr Farid Saedi were proved, including one incident where he struck his partner's face during an argument and refused to let her seek medical attention. However, the tribunal concluded that the conduct found proved did not reach the level of seriousness required to amount to misconduct. Accordingly, it found his fitness to practise was not impaired and concluded the case by taking no further action.
Charges
Dr Saedi was alleged to have, on multiple occasions, physically assaulted his partner Ms A during arguments, including punching her in the side of the head, pushing her into a shower, grabbing, slapping and throwing her, and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour under section 76 of the Serious Crime Act 2015. The hearing was held partly in private.
Findings
The Tribunal found some facts proved: that Dr Saedi punched Ms A in the side of the head during an argument (found to be an intentional act albeit aimed at a pillow), refused to let her seek medical attention, put his hands around her arms, and grabbed her on one occasion. The majority of the more serious physical assault allegations were not proved. The Tribunal found that the conduct found proved did not reach the level of seriousness required to amount to serious misconduct. Accordingly no impairment was found and no warning was issued.
