Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service determination — substantive hearing

Formally warned

The regulator’s term: warning

What does “formally warned” mean?

A formal warning is a note on the practitioner's record. It does not restrict practice but tells the public that the regulator considered the conduct to have fallen below expected standards.

Concerning Firas Majeed, doctor (General Medical Council 5208152).

Decision date: 14 January 2026 · Hearing started 2 June 2025 and ended 14 January 2026

In plain English

The MPTS tribunal found that Dr Firas Majeed's professional performance was unacceptable in assessing patients' conditions and clinical management following a GMC performance assessment. The tribunal found he had since remediated those concerns and his fitness to practise was not currently impaired. The tribunal imposed a formal warning, noting the deficiencies were sufficiently serious that repetition would likely result in a finding of impairment.

Charges

Dr Majeed underwent a GMC assessment of his professional performance on 29-30 January 2024. His professional performance was found unacceptable in Assessment of Patients' Condition and Clinical Management, and a cause for concern in Maintaining Professional Performance, Relationship with Patients, and Working with Colleagues.

Findings

The Tribunal found that Dr Majeed's professional performance was unacceptable in assessment of patients' condition and clinical management. However, it found sufficient evidence of remediation and consistently acceptable practice since the assessment to justify a finding that his fitness to practise was not currently impaired. The Tribunal determined to issue a formal warning under section 35D(3) of the Medical Act 1983, noting that if the performance deficiencies were repeated they would likely result in a finding of impaired fitness to practise. Any interim conditions order was revoked.
