What does “interim restrictions imposed” mean?

An interim order is a precautionary restriction imposed before the regulator's investigation is complete. It is not a finding of fault — the underlying allegations have not yet been adjudicated.

Concerning Jack Bieniek, nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council 17K0682E).

Decision date: 29 April 2026 · Hearing started 29 April 2026

In plain English

The NMC's Fitness to Practise Committee decided to replace nurse Jack Bieniek's interim suspension order with an interim conditions of practice order at a review hearing. The conditions restrict him to a single employer, Prestige Nursing & Care, prevent him from being the sole nurse in charge, and require supervision and fortnightly meetings covering areas including medication and wound management. The allegations against him have not yet been decided by a panel.

Charges

The allegations are not set out in the published determination and have not been adjudicated. A panel of the Fitness to Practise Committee has still to deal with the allegations. The conditions imposed relate to medication management, wound management, catheter care, supervision and support of staff, communication with staff, patient record keeping, and knowledge of policies and procedures.

Findings

At an interim order review hearing, the panel decided to replace the existing 18-month interim suspension order with an interim conditions of practice order. The conditions restrict practice to one substantive employer, Prestige Nursing & Care, prohibit being the sole nurse in charge, require indirect supervision by another registered nurse at all times, fortnightly meetings with a line manager, mentor or supervisor, reports to the NMC before any review, and notification and disclosure requirements. The order must be reviewed within six months and every six months thereafter.
