What does “suspended from practice” mean?
A suspension is a fixed-term pause on the right to practise. The practitioner cannot work in the regulated profession during the suspension. At the end of the period the suspension may be extended, replaced with another sanction, or lifted on review.

Charges
Heads of charge as set out in the GDC's notice of inquiry for the hearing beginning 3 August 2026, which the notice states were current at publication and subject to amendment: that being registered as a dental care professional, (1) on 30 July 2021 she was convicted at North East London Magistrates Court of offences committed on 16 July 2021 of driving after consuming alcohol above the legal limit, and driving without third party insurance; (2) on 21 April 2022 she was convicted at Portsmouth Magistrates Court of offences committed on 25 March 2022 of driving after consuming alcohol above the legal limit, driving without third party insurance, and driving while disqualified; (3) she failed to immediately inform the GDC of the convictions at 1 and 2; (4) she failed to immediately inform the GDC that she was charged on 7 April 2020 with acts intending to pervert the course of justice between 1 July 2019 and 6 September 2019; (5) she failed to immediately inform the GDC that she was charged with conspiring to commit fraud by false representation or conspiracy to steal; (6) in applying for the additional title of dental therapist on or around 16 August 2023 she failed to declare the conviction at 1; and (7) that her conduct at 3 to 6 was misleading, and/or lacking integrity, and/or dishonest. The notice alleged impairment by reason of conviction on heads 1 and 2 and by reason of misconduct on heads 3 to 7.
Findings
On 5 August 2026 the Professional Conduct Committee suspended Ms Mawji for a period of 1 month, the suspension to take effect after the appeal period. The record notes the decision is within the appeal period. The only document published with the hearing page is the GDC's notice of inquiry, which sets out the heads of charge as summonsed.
